Ultra Grey was formed by guitarist Brian in the fall of 1998 after his previous five piece band,
Radia Euphoric, disbanded one year earlier with the full intention of a less is more, experimental/layered sound with female vocals. With inspiration from such two member recording bands as Cocteau Twins, Curve, Dead Can Dance, Idaho and the Dallas band Terror Couple, the core was established with Amy, Brian's soon to be wife, after a collection of 5 instrumental tracks were written along with a drum machine/sequencer. Amy's strong vocals, melody and lyric writing ability helped the instrumental tracks become actual songs.

By the end of 1998 Brian & Amy were still writing songs aided by the drum machine/sequencer and focused the search for both a bass player and a drummer to complete a live lineup. 1999 proved to be a very long year of searching with 3 bassists and 2 drummers coming and going with no real commitment which is most important to any group. Possible live shows were discussed but abandoned by the two piece in the continued hopes of adding at least a real bass player to complete the desired sound.

In May, 2000, Brian & Amy were joined by Andrew on bass who made a quick progression through the songs and by October, a seven song cd entitled The Grey Things Are... was recorded. The band celebrated the release of the CD with a show in Fort Worth at the Ridglea Theater, November 24th. By January 2001, Andrew left the band and was replaced by Sybil.

Ultra Grey continues to write new songs and will be playing frequently in 2001.
